CHELMS JET completed a heat and final double in the Time Greyhound Nutrition Thank you Maurice Newman Trophy over 575m at Romford.
The event, commemorating the fundraising efforts of the late former trainer, had begun on a memorial night for the hugely popular Mo Newman and heats were won by Darren Whitton’s Chelms Jet (34.97sec) and Mark Wallis’s Antigua Bigun (35.33sec).
Chelms Jet, owned by Lee Harris, followed up in the £500 final with a burst of early pace setting up a rapid-fire 34.81sec victory.
