BUBBLY INFERNO (pictured with Paul Young) and Untold Dollar shared the spoils as the Time Greyhound Nutrition-backed Greyhound of the Month award in the UK for March saw joint winners after the pair polled the same number of votes among members of the Greyhound Writers’ Association.
Successful in the Stadium Bookmakers TV Trophy at Oxford, Bubbly Inferno won for Romford handler Paul Young and owners The Champagne Club Syndicate, while Premier Greyhound Racing Puppy Derby champion Untold Dollar struck for trainer Carol Weatherall and owners Callum and John Purdy.
In sharing the award, Bubbly Inferno and Untold Dollar edged out fellow nominees Acomb Felix (Kevin Ferguson), Front Alice (Kevin Proctor), Queen Joni (Liz McNair) and Romeo To Victory (Tom Heilbron) in what proved a competitive month.
Oxford racing manager Simon Pearson said: “It was a privilege to stage the TV Trophy as one of the most famous competitions in the greyhound calendar, but even we couldn’t have anticipated such a great race and Bubbly Inferno was a worthy winner. That surge to the front from her was brilliant – it was great racing!
“She deserves the Time Greyhound Nutrition Greyhound of the Month award.”
Time Greyhound Nutrition’s Willie Rigney congratulated connections of both March’s winners and was delighted to see the award shared given such a tough month.
He said: “Bubbly Inferno and Untold Dollar were two worthy recipients in a difficult month with lots of good competitions and winners so this month we’ll have two happy sets of connections hopefully – and no doubt the Juvenile Championship winner will be in the reckoning for April’s award! Well done all.”
Bubbly Inferno and Untold Dollar succeed February’s Time Greyhound of the Month which was Ricky Holloway’s Premier Greyhound Racing Golden Jacket champion Dazl Rolex.
